Moving Maze is a maze whose walls shift while you are in it. A route you planned can stop existing halfway through, so the game rewards replanning rather than committing. It is a much better model of real navigation than a static maze is.

How to play

Enter the maze and start moving towards the exit.

Walls shift at intervals, changing the available routes.

Replan when your route closes.

Reach the exit before the time runs out.

Levels shift walls more often.

What it actually trains

Adaptive planning — holding a goal while the route to it changes. The skill is letting go of a plan quickly rather than trying to force it.

Tips to score higher

Plan two moves ahead, not ten. Longer plans are wasted when the walls move.

Move towards the exit's general direction even when the direct route is closed. Progress beats precision here.

Stay near junctions. Being mid-corridor when the walls shift is the worst place to be.

Do not freeze when your route closes. The clock costs more than a suboptimal detour.

Frequently asked questions

Do the walls move randomly?

They shift on a schedule rather than unpredictably, so with attention you can anticipate a shift.

Can I get trapped?

Being briefly enclosed can happen; the next shift opens a route.

Is this harder than a normal maze?

Considerably, because memorising the layout is worth much less.

Best strategy?

Head for the exit's direction and solve locally. Global plans do not survive here.
