About Mind Skills Arcade

Free brain games built and run by an independent studio in South Carolina

Mind Skills Arcade is a free collection of browser brain games — memory, logic, maths, focus, reaction, spatial, word and typing — built and run by DixonAppStudio LLC, an independent games studio based in Elgin, South Carolina, United States. Everything plays instantly, with no account, no download and no paywall.

Who is behind it

DixonAppStudio LLC is a small independent studio that makes games and utility apps for the web, Android and iOS. Mind Skills Arcade is its brain-games site. The games are designed and programmed in-house; nothing here is embedded from another developer or scraped from another site.

You can reach the studio directly — see the contact page. Business, legal and privacy enquiries go to support@dixonappstudio.com; questions about the games to support@mindskillsarcade.com.

What you will find here

More than 150 short games grouped by the ability each one loads, rather than by theme: working memory, recall, logic and deduction, arithmetic, selective attention and inhibition, reaction time, mental rotation, vocabulary, typing and more. Each game page explains how to play, exactly how that game scores, what it trains, and — for the most-played games — what the research literature says about the task, with sources.

Alongside the games there is a mental maths section with every times table and the square numbers, a set of free tools such as the memory palace builder, and long-form guides on topics like how to improve memory and whether brain training works.

How we build a game

Each game starts from a real task — often one used in psychology research, such as the Stroop test, digit span, the Corsi blocks or n-back — and is rebuilt for a phone screen: big tap targets, no horizontal scrolling, readable at arm’s length, playable in two minutes. Every game is tested on a small phone and a desktop before release.

Scores are kept in your own browser, so there is nothing to sign up for. The full process, including how we write and source the text on each page, is on our editorial policy page.

What brain games can and cannot do

Practice reliably makes you better at the game you practise, and short timed tasks are a good way to warm up, measure yourself and build a daily habit. The large reviews of the research are clear that improvements rarely transfer to general intelligence or everyday memory, and we will not claim otherwise. None of the games is a medical test or treatment.

Where a page says a task is used in research, it links to the study. Where the evidence is contested — dual n-back and IQ is the best-known example — the page says so.

How the site is paid for

The games are free because the site carries advertising from Google AdSense. Ads appear only between rounds — after you finish a round and tap to play again — and never while a game is running. A rewarded ad for bonus XP is offered only if you choose to watch it.

Some buying guides link to products on Amazon; as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Those links are marked, and no product can pay to be included. Details are in the affiliate disclosure.
