Hidden Coin — Play Free Online

Free visual tracking game — instant play, no signup, no download

Hidden Coin puts a coin under one of several objects and then slides and swaps the objects around while you watch. You say where the coin ended up. Unlike the cup game, the objects here are visually distinct, so you can track by appearance as well as by position — which sounds easier and turns out to create a different kind of error.

How to play

Watch the coin go under one of the objects.

The objects slide and swap positions.

Follow the object holding the coin.

Click it when the movement stops.

Later rounds add objects and speed up the swaps.

What it actually trains

Object tracking where identity and position can be bound together. Having two cues available is a help until they conflict, at which point people reliably follow the wrong one.

Tips to score higher

Pick one cue and stick to it. Switching between 'the blue one' and 'the left one' mid-round is what loses the coin.

Position is the more reliable cue when swaps are fast; appearance is better when they are slow.

Do not blink during a swap.

If two objects swap with each other, watch the pair and note which side yours came out on.

Frequently asked questions

Does the coin ever move on its own?

No. It stays with the object it started under for the whole animation.

Is this easier than Cup Shuffle?

Usually yes, because the objects are distinguishable. At high speeds the advantage disappears.

What if I lose track completely?

Pick the object that ended nearest where you last had it. That beats a random guess.

Does this train anything transferable?

Visual tracking, narrowly. It is a measure more than a training programme.
