Arithmetic fluency combined with visual search. Doing both is harder than either — the calculation has to finish and be held while you scan, which is a small working-memory load on top.
Scan your card once at the start and note roughly where the small, medium and large numbers sit.
Estimate the answer's magnitude first, then search only that region of the card.
Mark immediately. Holding an answer while you keep scanning is where most misses come from.
If the answer is not on your card, move on fast — not every called problem is on every card.
