This is the whole multiplication grid on one screen: every fact from 1 × 1 to 20 × 20. Tap a square and the chart highlights the row and the column that meet there, so the fact reads off in both directions. Switch to the 12 × 12 view for the classic school chart, or print a clean black-and-white copy with the highlighting turned off.
Find one factor along the top row and the other down the left column. Follow them until they meet, and the square where they cross is the answer. 7 along the top and 8 down the side meet at 56.
The grid is symmetrical about its diagonal, because the order of the two factors never changes the product. That means the top-right half and the bottom-left half are mirror images, and you only ever have to learn one of them.
The diagonal itself is the square numbers: 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100, 121, 144, 169, 196, 225, 256, 289, 324, 361, 400. Those are the facts where both factors are the same, and they are worth learning first because every other fact can be reached from a nearby square.
The 10 column is the number with a zero after it. The 5 column ends in 5 and 0 alternately. The 9 column, up to 9 × 10, has digits that always add to nine. The 11 column, up to 11 × 9, is the digit written twice.
Even rows produce only even answers, so an odd answer in the 4, 6, 8 rows is always a mistake. Odd rows alternate odd and even. That single check catches a surprising share of slips before they are written down.
Once the patterns are visible, the number of facts that genuinely have to be memorised drops sharply. Strip out the 1s, 2s, 5s, 10s, 11s, the squares and the mirror-image half, and fewer than twenty hard facts remain.
The print button produces a clean chart with no navigation, no colour fills and no highlighting — a plain grid that reads properly in black and white and fits on one sheet of A4 or US Letter.
A printed chart on a wall is a reference, not a crutch. Used well it is a place to look when a fact has not landed yet, and something to cover up square by square as each row becomes automatic.
A chart makes facts findable. It does not make them fast. The gap between being able to look a fact up and being able to answer it in half a second is closed only by retrieval under a bit of time pressure.
The practical order is: read the row on the chart, cover it, answer the same facts shuffled, then check. A minute of that a day will move a whole row to automatic within a couple of weeks.

12 × 12 is the classic school grid and covers almost everything needed day to day. 20 × 20 is useful once the twelves are solid, mostly because it makes the split-into-tens shortcut obvious.
Because multiplication is commutative: 7 × 8 and 8 × 7 both come to 56. Every square on one side of the diagonal has an identical twin on the other side, which halves how many facts there are to learn.
The square numbers — 1, 4, 9, 16, 25 and so on — where a number is multiplied by itself. They are the most useful facts on the whole chart because every neighbouring fact can be reached from one.
