Name All World Capitals
Type as many world capital cities as you can in 15 minutes.
Name every world capital against the clock. The hardest capitals challenge on the site, and the one that shows you exactly which continent you have never studied.
What to expect
Most people manage 60 to 90 on a first attempt out of nearly 200. That is normal. The score is far less interesting than the shape of the misses, which is almost always regional: whole continents come out blank rather than a scatter of individual gaps.
Where the gaps always are
Run it once and you will find your zeros clustered in the same places as everyone else's — West Africa, Central Asia, the Caribbean and the Pacific. Between them those four regions hold around fifty capitals, and they are the fifty that separate a score of 90 from a score of 150.
How to work the gaps
Do not replay the full world hoping to improve. Take the weakest continent, clear it on its own continent quiz, then come back. Clearing a block and returning is dramatically faster than repeating a global shuffle where your attention is spread across six continents at once.
The exceptions that cost easy points
Even strong players lose points on countries where the capital is not the largest city: Turkey, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Switzerland, Nigeria, Myanmar, Vietnam, Pakistan, New Zealand, Morocco and the UAE. Those twelve are worth a dedicated pass because they are answerable from a list rather than from geographic knowledge.
Then the multi-capital countries: South Africa has three, Bolivia two, and the Netherlands, Sri Lanka and Malaysia each separate their constitutional capital from their seat of government.
What a good score looks like
Above 120 is strong. Above 150 means you have genuinely done the work on Africa, because Africa alone is 54 of the answers and it is the block nearly everyone skips.
Frequently asked questions
How many world capitals are there?
Around 195 to 197, matching the number of sovereign states. It is not exact because South Africa has three capitals, Bolivia has two, and several countries name a capital that is not the seat of government.
What is a good score on a name-all-capitals quiz?
A first attempt usually lands between 60 and 90. Above 120 is strong, and above 150 means you have specifically studied Africa, which is 54 of the answers and the block most people never touch.
Which continent should I study first?
Africa, if your goal is the total. It is the largest block at 54 countries and typically where scores start from around fifteen, so it has the most room to improve. Europe is the easiest if you want an early win instead.
